to the magical orchard. Flowers had roamed freely and the friendly animals and
fruit trees that also inhabited the fantastic forest spoke happily during the
reign of the kind and generous King Sergey. After the king's untimely death,
his thirteen beautiful daughters, who were as kind and generous as their father,
were put under the care of their only living relative, evil Uncle Alexander. All
creatures feared Alexander and his "boys" who were really children who had run
away from home and had become lost in the orchard. Alexander feared nothing
except the scarlet feather belonging to the L'Oiseau de Fer, a fire-colored magical bird
who awaited a rescuer to help her destroy the evil magic of Alexander and restore
paradise to the magical orchard. Along comes Prince Andre who, with the help of
L'Oiseau de Fer and the scarlet feather, dispels the evil power of Alexander. He
also finds himself very much attracted to the eldest princess Vasilissa to whom
he proposes marriage. She accepts willingly, not only as a thank you on behalf
of her sisters and the orchard for Andre's heroism, but also because she has truly
fallen in love with him. After all, the world can always use another love story
and another happy ending.
