Plot summary: The Queen
of the Night and the King of the Day constantly fight over the issue of how much
darkness there should be and how much light. The only thing they have agreed upon
is that there should be twenty-four hours in a day. The Queen of the Night, of
course, wants all twenty-four hours to be darkness and the King of the Day wants
all twenty-four hours to be light. Their children Princess Dawn and Prince Dusk
dislike the constant bickering. The kingdom's population of Nights and Days also
fight amongst themselves. Court Wizard Destry is summoned to try to rectify this
dilemma. With the help of Professor Sharpflat and a magic flute, Princess Dawn's
musical talents bring harmony to the kingdom and a happy compromise satisfies
everyone in the end. By interweaving recorded selections from Mozart's
The Magic Flute as background and dance music, a unique
musical tale will light up your stage; one that teaches children the importance
of working together and also the wonderful joy that music brings to our lives.
(I worked with my school's incredible music teacher Mrs. Breena Ray on this project
to the delight of our audiences.)
